Beetle Drive

This afternoon we had great fun playing Snowman Beetle Drive (a Miss Gallagher's family favourite!)

First we made our Snowmen and cut them into 6 pieces. Each piece was numbered 1-6.

Then we sat in a big circle and passed the two dice around. Each time we rolled a new number we could take a piece out of our envelopes add it to our snowman! We were great at taking turns and being kind to each other.

When we had all six pieces Miss Gallagher gave us a clue...we had a little something hidden somewhere in the school, but we had to think very carefully to work out where it was. When we found our surprise we gave a big 'woop!' for our classmates to hear! We were lovely and supportive, cheering whenever our friends solved their clue.

See our clues and the moment we found our surprises in some funny places around school below...
Muddy boots galore!

Where do you go to collect things for us?

Buzz buzz buzz!

Where do you go to change the date?

You love to tap away here...

3,2,1 blast off!

Chop, chop, snip, snip!

I just need to check you are all still here...

Mrs Bales hates this (glitter!)

Where do we stand at the end of the day?

Where can you see yourself?

This tray is a bit sticky!

Oh monitor...

Scrub that paint!

Help! I can't spell that!

Where do the teachers hang their coats?

It's a bit warm in here!

Ding ding - the alarm is ringing!

Also - a big thank you to Mrs Bales for our lovely present bags!

Well done to all of the children for working so hard this term. I hope you all have a wonderful, well-earned rest!

As always, thank you for your continued support at home and I'll look forward to seeing you all again in 2017. Happy holidays!

Watch our writing grow!

Hello!

Just a note to say that our 'we are orange class' display has changed. Now, each time we do a big piece of writing, it will be put in your child's special wallet on the wall. This way, we can look back and see how our writing has improved over the year.

Where you see the letter 'I' (as below) on a piece of writing, this means that the child has done this independently with no adult support. Where you see an 'S' this means there has been some support, but we always try to be as independent as possible when adding to this special wall!

Please feel free to come into class any day after school to have a look at what your child has been doing and chat about what you can do at home to help. We are proud of what we do in Orange Class and would love to share our achievements with you.

Fire safety.

On Monday we also had a visit from the fire safety team. We learnt all about keeping safe around matches and what to do in an emergency! Have a look at us in our firefighting outfits!

Maybe you could ask us at home which number to call in an emergency to see if we still remember.

Ichi..ni...san!

Hello!

Jake from TKF Karate came to school today to introduce us to his sport. We learnt how stand defensively, how to do some kicks and punches and even learnt some Japanese!

Here we are practising...

And...here is our finished routine! Don't we look fab?!

A letter has gone home with the children today (21st November) for anyone who is interested in taking up some more Karate lessons with Jake. There are two free introductory sessions available for pupils and their friends or family (children). Please just ask me if you didn't get a letter or if it has been mislaid and I can find you another one.

Art stars

We had great fun this afternoon experimenting with colour. First, we looked at the book 'mix it up' as a group. We couldn't believe what happened when we closed the book and gave it a shake...all the colours mixed up inside the book! Magic!

After seeing this, we thought we would have a go at experimenting with colours ourselves. We found that we could mix the paints to create lots of different colours and shades.

We then used our newly created colour palettes to make some beautiful artwork. We made our own constellations because our new book in Literacy is called 'How to Catch a Star'.

Can you see some of the colours that we made and guess what our constellations are?

Fire!

We spent a wonderful autumnal afternoon in the wildlife area.  Lots of leaves had blown off the trees and we started off being 'tree' detectives' trying to find the trees that the leaves had fallen off.  We even had a little bonfire to keep our hands warm.

First week in space!

This week we have launched into our new topic - 'Space' and already have learnt lots about the moon. We asked questions about the moon and did some super research to find out the answers.

We pretended to blast off in our very own space rockets in PE and went exploring our newly discovered planets with our friends.  I was very impressed by the children's team work, their moon walking and driving in moon buggies!

In Maths we have been challenging ourselves to add two numbers together.  Here is what we tried today:
